About Peter Kang

Personal Profile

Mr Kang has more than a decade’s experience working as a Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal and General Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital, and he has been working at Three Shires seeing private insured, self-funding and NHS patients since 2015.

After qualifying as Consultant General Surgeon in 2008 Mr Kang spent 5 years completing higher specialist training in a number of colorectal sub-specialty posts within the West Midlands. He has extensive experience in multiple aspects of colorectal surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, management of IBD and ileal pouch surgery, management of faecal incontinence and obstructive defecation, as well as sacral nerve stimulation.

Within his Consultant post at Northampton General, Mr Kang has acted as Surgical Tutor for 8 years, Audit Lead for the Enhanced Recovery Programme, and Risk Management Lead for Surgical Directorate. Within the latter two roles he works alongside the Department of Service Improvement and as a team they endeavor to streamline patient care pathways and improve the quality and efficiency of the service.

As surgical tutor he sat on the Education and Training Committee at Northampton General Hospital, working to ensure that they achieve high standards of training for junior doctors. He also worked closely with the Nottingham University Trent Simulation Centre, participating in laparoscopic training for undergraduates. Working as part of a multi-skilled team he led the organisation, coordination and delivery of a LAPCO interactive training course for students, using live surgery, simulation techniques, and cadaver based laparoscopic training.
