He qualified at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, and undertook surgical training at Guy’s Hospital, The London Chest Hospital and The Westminster Hospital before returning to St Thomas’ and associated hospitals throughout the South as registrar, lecturer undertaking venous research and then senior registrar. He published and presented on venous and arterial conditions and won an Arris and Gale lectureship at the Royal College of Surgeons of England for his research on venous disorders. He is the author of many research papers and surgical and venous text books.

Nick was appointed consultant to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in 1994. Since then, he has treated thousands of patients with all venous and arterial conditions in Winchester, Andover and in the regional vascular centre in Southampton. He has gained vast experience and is highly respected as the region’s most senior vascular surgeon.

Nick has extensive experience in teaching and training students and junior surgeons. He is a past professor of surgery with St George’s International School of Medicine, Grenada.

Having undertaken research into many forms of venous disease, Nick now focuses on treating varicose veins in the private sector. He adopts a customised approach to each patient, carefully defining and treating the specific features unique to each patient’s pattern of varicose veins. Injection, laser and open surgery techniques are employed to suit individual requirements. All treatments are offered as outpatient or day case procedures and the great majority of patients achieve excellent results. Consultations involve a careful history and examination and one stop ultrasound scanning. A treatment plan is recommended and the procedure booked there and then to suit patients’ needs and wishes. Advice is given regarding post procedure activities and expectations. Following the procedure, two appointments are offered to monitor the recovery and quality assure the outcome.

Nick believes in offering the very best advice and treatment and always puts his patients’ interest first. Feedback metrics from the private healthcare body PHIN indicate that 100% of Nick’s patients are extremely or very happy with the care he provides.

Nick enjoys exploring the beautiful Hampshire countryside with Vola his German pointer, sailing British, Caribbean and Mediterranean waters, cycling and world travel.
