About Dr Nazneen Begum

Personal Profile

Dr Begum trained at Birmingham Medical School completing her studies in 2003. Following this, she did her pre-registration year in Birmingham before moving back up North, completing her GP training in both the Yorkshire and North West deaneries and qualified as a GP in 2008.

She has gained a wealth of experience as a GP, having been a GP partner in Burnley for 4 years and a salaried GP in various practices before settling to work in her local town. Alongside this role she has been working at Calderstones Hospital for the last 12 years, providing GP care to inpatients with learning disabilities and mental health problems.

She is very passionate about Diabetes having completed a diploma and regularly reviews complex diabetic patients in her specialist clinics at the surgery. In addition, she has undertaken diplomas in Women’s health, Respiratory Care and Cardiovascular Disease and is trained in implants.

She thoroughly enjoys working as a GP and wants to be able to give all her patients the best patient care they deserve with no constraints in terms of time factors and access issues.
Outside of her GP work she does Pilates, attends the gym and is a keen walker having recently undertaken the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and kittens.
