About Mr Naveed Yasin

Personal Profile

Mr Yasin qualified from Cardiff University in 2002 with honour and went on to complete his surgical training in the North West.

He completed his advanced spinal training in Manchester, as well as an internationally recognised fellowship in Complex Spines, Australia. He has further developed his knowledge and skills with experience in visiting other spine centres around the world.

He currently works in the Complex Spine Surgery department at Salford Royal Hospital, which is one of the largest spinal surgical facilities in Europe.

Mr Yasin is regularly invited to teach and speak at national and international meetings. He teaches on several courses, including spinal tumours masterclass as well as being an Honorary Lecturer at both at Salford University and Manchester University where he is also an Academic Advisor. He is actively involved in teaching allied health professionals such as specialised physiotherapists.

He is on the SRS Spinal Register as one of the few UK surgeons recognised internationally as a spine specialist and receives patients from around the world.

Mr Yasin specialises in complex spine surgery including spinal reconstruction procedures as well as minimally invasive techniques and tumour surgery. He carries out microscopic spinal surgery to facilitate early recovery. His expertise lies in all aspects of spinal surgery, including spinal deformities as well as spinal pain and arm or sciatica pain from disc herniation.

Mr Yasin is an advocate of using a multi-disciplinary approach to manage spinal conditions, including working with allied health professionals such as specialist physiotherapists as well as other spinal surgeons to ensure the best care is provided.

He has taken part in national and international presentations as well as research publications. These include aspects of patient outcomes as well as patient safety such as minimising the need for blood transfusion in major spinal surgeries.

Mr Yasin has a firm belief in measuring outcomes and is the only spinal surgeon in the UK with outcome measures available to the public. His work on spinal surgical outcomes is published and has been quoted in the national media.
