Mr. Najaf Siddiqi is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, currently working at University Hospitals of Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
Mr. Siddiqi graduated from Nishtar Medical College, Pakistan in 2003. His initial postgraduate training was undertaken in Yorkshire, UK, and he completed his higher surgical specialty training (CCT) in the Wessex Deanery, rotating through prestigious colorectal units in Basingstoke, Southampton, and Portsmouth Hospitals, receiving subspecialist training in Robotic Colorectal Surgery at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, before joining Poole Hospital.
His main interests are in the surgical treatment of bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease with a focus on advanced minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Mr. Siddiqi is a passionate researcher and has a strong active research interest in surgical education, surgical technology, and quality in colorectal cancer. He has authored over thirty publications in various medical journals and has presented over sixty papers at different national and international scientific meetings. Mr. Siddiqi was awarded a doctorate (M.D) research degree from the University of Portsmouth for his research on ‘Testing the Utility of Biomarkers in Detecting Micrometastasis in Colorectal Cancer’ and has active research interest in surgical education, surgical technology, and quality in colorectal cancer.
He has a keen interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery and earned a Post CCT fellowship in advanced colorectal robotic surgery from Portsmouth Hospitals University, UK.
Mr. Siddiqi is an experienced surgeon in minimally invasive colorectal and general surgery. He performs laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery both for malignant and benign conditions including inflammatory bowel disease and coloproctological conditions.
Mr. Siddiqi has been part of the faculty in various national and international masterclasses for laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Currently, he is a member of the faculty for various laparoscopic and robotic courses run by the Royal College of Surgeons, ASIT, and ASGBI for consultants and trainees.
He is also Clinical Lead for Audit and Quality Assurance in Surgery at University Hospitals Dorset, UK.
Outside of work Najaf regularly likes to play badminton, table tennis, and swimming. He loves spending time with his wife and two sons and going hiking as a family.
