Mr Anwar has been trained extensively in all aspects of vascular surgery in some of the prestigious and high-volume vascular surgery centres including Liverpool, Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge, Northwick Park, St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He has received comprehensive training in management of peripheral vascular disease, venous disease (including varicose veins), diabetic foot management, lymphoedema, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and aortic aneurysm. Mr Anwar performed a period of research in the development and pathogenesis of varicose veins at Imperial College London which led to award of PhD. He has published extensively and was awarded European and American Venous Forums best paper prizes (2012, 2014) for his research work. Mr Anwar did travelling endovascular (minimal invasive surgery) fellowship with renowned Professor Thomas Zeller at Universitäts-Herzzentrum Freiburg · Bad Krozingen, Germany
Mr Anwar performs minimal invasive techniques for varicose veins routinely. He also performs lower limb angioplasty and open and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysm. He is the clinical lead for venous disease and diabetic foot for Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust and has set up local anaesthetic ambulatory varicose veins treatment service for the Trust. Mr Anwar is also the Surgical Lead for University College London Medical Students for Basildon Hospital.
