About Montasser Mahran

Personal Profile

Mr Mahran trained in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the East Anglia region and London. He completed advanced training in laparoscopic (keyhole) gynaecological surgery at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals. He is currently a Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bedford and Luton Hospitals and is the Lead for the Endometriosis and Robotic Surgery Service.

Mr Mahran has a broad range of expertise in general gynaecology, including the medical and surgical management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. His specialist interests include endometriosis and advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Mr Mahran performs surgery using a keyhole approach to enhance recovery, reduce the risk of complications, and achieve excellent cosmetic outcomes for women.

Since moving to Bedford,  Mr Mahran has led and developed the hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and gynaecological cancer services, alongside comprehensive training programmes for doctors and nurses. His work has played a key role in establishing Bedford Hospital as a leading centre for laparoscopic and robotic surgery, providing high-quality care for women in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
Mr Mahran sees patients for a wide range of women’s health–related concerns, all of which are listed in the treatments section. He is passionate about empowering patients with clear, accurate information so they can make informed decisions tailored to their individual circumstances.

He has a strong interest in medical education and regularly organises lectures, small-group teaching sessions, and workshops. Mr Mahran has published numerous articles in medical journals and acts as a mentor to other consultants during their training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Outside of work, Mr Mahran is a family man with three children and enjoys spending his spare time with them. He also enjoys swimming and tennis.
