Personal profile

Dr Shah has been a Consultant Dermatologist since 1998 and focuses on skin cancer and skin lesions at the Huddersfield Private Hospital. 

He has published over 40 scientific papers in international journals and is the author of 2 books: “The Male Genitalia” and “Eczema Passport”. He is also the co-author of the “ABC of Sexual Health”

Dr Shah has a higher doctorate degree (MD, University of Birmingham) in the field of contact dermatitis and is a nationally recognised expert in male genital skin disease. He qualified in Medicine in Birmingham in 1988, then worked in General Medicine and Adult and Adolescent Cancer Medicine before entering Dermatology in 1992. He completed his specialist Dermatology training in Sheffield and has been on the GMC Specialist Register since 1998. 

Dr Shah has a keen interest in medical teaching. He has a postgraduate certificate of education in workplace-based medical education. He has contributed to the national e-learning for healthcare website which produces training and teaching for healthcare professionals as well as the training curriculum for the British Association of Dermatologists. He lectures nationally and internationally. His areas of research include male genital skin disease and skin cancer. He has presented scientific papers and posters across the world from America to Europe and South Africa. 

Dr Shah sees both Insured and self-funding patients at Huddersfield Private Hospital.

Clinical interests

At the Huddersfield Private Hospital Dr Shah focuses solely on skin lesions (cancerous and benign), including:

  • Mole checking, skin screening, and mole removal 
  • Skin cancer and pre-cancer diagnosis such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, actinic keratoses, and Bowen’s disease
  • Removal of non-cancerous lesions, lumps and bumps and skin growths such as seborrheic keratosis
  • Advice on topical treatments for superficial skin cancers, pre-cancerous lesions (like Bowen’s disease and actinic keratosis) and advice on sunscreens
  • Surgical procedures including skin cancer removal, diagnostic biopsy, skin lesion removal, and removal of skin cancers from the face
