*** I am an upper limb specialist, therefore only treat shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and finger conditions. ***
Lou graduated in 1989 from King’s College Hospital with a Graduate Diploma (Honours) in physiotherapy (MSCP). She completed three years post-graduate training at the Hammersmith Hospital, then went on to specialise in hand therapy at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford.
Lou has worked at The Chiltern Hospital for over 25 years, specialising in Hand and Upper Limb Therapy. She has significant experience in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of a vast array of acute and chronic hand problems. Lou works closely with the orthopaedic upper limb consultants and plastic surgeons to provide a seamless progression of rehabilitation to the patient. Lou’s specialist interests are in hand and wrist injuries, splinting, plastering, and fracture management.
Her other clinical interests include cancer care, acupuncture and hydrotherapy.
Outside of work Lou enjoys keeping fit by running and going to the gym.
She knows the importance of a healthy work/life balance. She uses this knowledge to help her patients return to their full potential during their rehabilitation. In her spare time, Lou is completing a course to become a mental health advocate.
She believes that it is important to treat injuries holistically; a patient’s mental wellbeing has strong influence over their physical recovery.
