About Lazlo Halmai

Personal Profile

Dr Lazlo Halmai is a Consultant Cardiologist in Imaging, who works at the Department of Cardiology at Milton Keynes University Hospital and is available to see private patients at The Saxon Clinic in Milton Keynes and the Manor Hospital in Bedford, he has a CCST-UK in General Medicine and Cardiology.

Dr Halmai has over 30 years’ experience working in Cardiology and General (Internal) Medicine. He is also a sub-specialist in heart failure, cardiomyopathies and advanced imaging techniques including 3D-Echocardiography and cardiac CT angiography.

He qualified in Medicine at the University Medical School of Szeged, Hungary in 1987 with best marks. He continued as Research Fellow in neuro-cardiology regulation at the Institute of Pathophysiology and gained MD qualification. He started working at Milton Keynes University Hospital as a Staff Grade Cardiologist in 2008, then continued with a Specialist Registrar post at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, where he gained extensive training in Echocardiographic techniques, leading to accreditation by the British Society of Echocardiography.

He completed his rotation at the Acute Pennine Hospitals in North Manchester and received his first Consultant position at the Colchester University Hospital in 2010. He continued to work as a Consultant at the Cardiology Department of the Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals in 2011, with continued training in 3D-Echocardiography at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Birmingham.

He has been appointed as Consultant Cardiologist in Imaging at the Milton Keynes University Hospital since 2012. He achieved a Honorary Fellowship in Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Cardiovascular Support in Advanced Heart Failure at the Harefield Hospital in London where he has been elected as Board Member at the Cardiomyopathy Service in 2016.

Dr Halmai is available by appointment for consultation at the The Saxon Clinic, Milton Keynes, and Manor Hospital Bedford for all common cardiac conditions including chest pain, heart rhythm abnormalities, high blood pressure, shortness of breath and heart failure, recurrent loss of consciousness and valvular heart diseases.

He is registered with all major private medical insurance companies and will see patients who wish to pay for their own consultation and treatment.

He is able to provide the following specialist cardiac procedures:

  • Cardiac CT angiography and calcium-scoring

As an experienced General Cardiologist, Dr Halmai is committed to provide a comprehensive patient care with the latest advanced imaging and therapeutic modalities.

Over and above his consultancy work Dr Halmai also works as Clinical Lecturer and Educational Supervisor role at the University of Buckingham Medical School since 2017.
