She qualified from the University of Aberdeen in 2000 and completed her basic surgical training in the North East of Scotland. Early in her career, she developed a strong interest in orthopaedics, leading her to pursue advanced training and subspecialisation in both paediatric and foot and ankle surgery.
Miss Muthusamy was awarded a prestigious two-year fellowship at Children’s Hospital Denver, Colorado, one of the leading paediatric orthopaedic centres in the United States. During this fellowship, she focused on gait analysis, studying how walking patterns relate to underlying orthopaedic conditions. Her work contributed to clinical understanding in this area and was published in international peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating her commitment to evidence-based practice and research-led care.
Following her time in the United States, she returned to Scotland to complete her Higher Surgical Training. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013 (FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics) - a recognised mark of excellence for consultant orthopaedic surgeons in the UK.
Miss Muthusamy further advanced her expertise through fellowship training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, where she specialised in both adult foot and ankle conditions and paediatric orthopaedic surgery. During this period, she was recognised with prestigious international travel awards, including:
These experiences have supported her in developing a broad and modern approach to treating complex orthopaedic conditions.
