About Dr Kenn Lim

Personal Profile

Dr Kenn Lim is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Beaumont Hospital in Bolton.

He is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in minimally invasive (keyhole) gynaecological surgery and the management of benign gynaecological conditions. He is committed to providing compassionate, personalised care, ensuring every woman feels informed, supported and confident throughout her treatment journey.

Dr Lim continues to practise as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance, where he has worked since September 2020. His specialist expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as:

  • Endometriosis
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Fibroids
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Other benign gynaecological disorders

He has a particular interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and hysteroscopic procedures, offering modern, minimally invasive treatments that help reduce post-operative pain, minimise scarring and support a faster recovery.

Dr Lim completed his advanced surgical training at the renowned 'Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre' at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. Here, he developed expertise in complex minimally invasive surgery. He is committed to using the latest evidence-based techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes while tailoring treatment plans to each patient’s individual needs and preferences.

Within the NHS, Dr Lim leads the gynaecology theatre service and has been instrumental in introducing day-case hysterectomy surgery within his unit. Through enhanced recovery pathways and service innovation, the unit has achieved one of the highest day-case hysterectomy rates in the region, enabling more women to return home safely on the day of surgery and recover more comfortably in their own surroundings.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Lim is passionate about education and surgical training. He is the 'Training Programme Director' for Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy for the North West School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, where he oversees specialist training in minimally invasive surgery. He also teaches undergraduate medical students, serves as an 'Objective Structured Clinical Examination' (OSCE) examiner at Manchester Medical School and regularly delivers laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgical courses for trainee gynaecologists. In recognition of his commitment to education, he was nominated for the 'Trainer of the Year' award in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2024.

Dr Lim believes that excellent gynaecological care begins with listening. He takes time to understand each patient’s concerns, explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, and involve women in every stage of decision-making. His aim is to provide expert care in a reassuring, respectful and supportive environment.

Outside of work, Dr Lim enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. He also has a keen interest in aerial photography and videography and enjoys developing his skills as a drone pilot.
