During his training, he spent time in prestigious fellowships focusing on microsurgical breast reconstruction, at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, the treatment of skin cancer at the Melanoma Institute Australia in Sydney and aesthetic surgery both in London and the North West.
On completion of his training, he was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital before returning to the North West. In the early part of his training, he spent time in dedicated research concentrating on wound healing, scar management and anti-scarring therapies. This work culminated in the award of a research doctorate, as well as publications in scientific journals and national and international presentations.
