Mr Malik is an Endoscopic, Minimal invasive and Robotic Spine Surgeon at King’s College Hospital, London with more than 30 years' experience. He is recognised as a leader in complex spine surgery with specific expertise in minimally invasive, endoscopic surgery. As well as this, his experience lies in sports injuries and robotic spine surgery.

Training 

Mr Irfan Malik completed advanced neurosurgical training at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the University Hospital, Coventry & Warwickshire from 2001-2006. Following this he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (SN) and then enhanced his experience by completing fellowships in complex spine and epilepsy surgery from University Hospital Coventry and King’s College Hospital.

Practice

Mr Malik’s areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment (both surgical and non-surgical) of all spinal conditions. His busy practice includes the management of degenerative, traumatic and malignant spinal surgery. Mr Malik is an expert in the use of minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of neck pain, back pain, arm pain and sciatica. 

He is renowned across the UK and internationally as a leader in minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques, robotic spine surgery and navigated spine surgery. He has extensive experience in both minimally invasive as well as traditional open spinal surgery techniques. 

Teaching

As a mentor and educator, Mr Malik leads hands-on workshops and masterclasses in minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery. For example, he established King’s College Hospital as a training centre for endoscopic spinal surgery, training junior doctors in these procedures. These training initiatives have impacted surgeons worldwide, raising the standard of care across Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Mr Malik has published extensively across peer review papers, abstracts and book chapters for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endoscopic Spine Surgery.
