Mr Iman Khodaei trained in the Medical School of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and graduated in 1992. During his training, he received multiple first and second place medals for academic achievement, including the Stony Memorial Gold Medal in Anatomy.
He started his post-graduate training in Ireland and passed the FRCS examination in 1997. He then started training in ENT surgery, and transferred to the UK in 2001. He completed the Part III of the FRCS examination in Ear, Nose, and Throat Head and Neck Surgery in 2009. Following this period, he also obtained a Fellowship in the UK for Facial Cosmetic Surgery, followed by the Fellowship from the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, with a special interest in Rhinoplasty.
The EAFPS Fellowship was completed by 2010, but Mr Khodaei chose to extend the training with acclaimed Professor Pietro Palma until 2011 in Italy. He then entered private practice as a Facial Plastics and Rhinology ENT Surgeon before returning to the UK in 2014. He has been an ENT Consultant in Chesterfield Royal Hospital since July 2016, and specialises in rhinoplasty and sinus surgery both for the NHS, and in private practice.
From an academic point of view, Mr Khodaei has published dozens of peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and articles in this field. For the past 14 years, he has been a close student of Prof P. Palma in Milan, and visited his former mentor to refine his techniques in endonasal rhinoplasty. Together, Prof Palma and Mr Khodaei have published several papers on endonasal rhinoplasty. The paper on facial analysis achieved international praise for its guidance on the fundamentals of rhinoplasty surgery.
Mr Khodaei is the Chief Sub-Editor for Masters in Endonasal Rhinoplasty (in print). This book has amalgamated the life-time experience of rhinoplasty surgeons from around the world and condensed their experiences and words of wisdom into dozens of chapters.
In the UK, he teaches at the Merseyside Interface on facial plastics topics, and participates in the training of aspiring surgeons in the Human Anatomy Resource Centre in Liverpool. His current teaching activities include training junior doctors and ENT surgeons interested in rhinoplasty.
In his spare time, Mr Khodaei is a keen flautist and has regular musical training. He is also known for his rose garden where he raises hundreds of roses and perennials. He also speaks several foreign languages, including French and Persian.
