Personal Profile
From 2001 to 2024, Mr Reilly served as the lead for Podiatric Surgery at Northamptonshire Trust, a role in which he made significant contributions to the advancement of podiatric care. After retiring from his NHS practice, he now concentrates on private practice. He operates weekly at the Three Shires Hospital in Northampton, where he provides care to patients across various pathways, including self-pay, insured, and NHS.
Mr Reilly sees patients across Northamptonshire, with the majority coming from Northern Buckinghamshire and South Leicestershire.
Mr Reilly has a keen interest in bunion surgery and skin/nail tissue surgery. He has shared his expertise by lecturing internationally on plastic surgical procedures of the foot. To further contribute to the field, he manages a YouTube channel (Ian Reilly Podsurgeon) aimed at both colleagues and patients. His channel features educational videos organised into the following categories:
• Steroid Injections
• Nail and Skin Surgery
• Podiatric Surgery
• Local Anaesthesia
• Aspiration and Cysts
• Miscellaneous Topics
Through his practice and educational efforts, Mr Reilly remains a valuable resource in the field of podiatric surgery.
In addition to his distinguished medical career, Mr Reilly has a notable history of military service. His involvement began in 1991 when he first joined the Territorial Army, being commissioned in the 6th Royal Anglian (V) Regiment in 1993. Over the years, he transitioned to the Army Medical Services, reflecting his commitment to both military and medical disciplines. In 2003, Mr Reilly was deployed to the Gulf as a Troop Commander, where he played a crucial role in leading and managing personnel in a challenging and high-pressure environment. His service in the Gulf was a significant part of his military career, showcasing his leadership and adaptability in a diverse setting. Despite his extensive commitments to healthcare, Mr Reilly has remained dedicated to his military responsibilities. He is registered as a reserve officer, maintaining his readiness for the Army Medical Services. That said, should he be required on operations, he suspects that most of his combat trousers would need replacing for larger ones.
Outside of his work life, Mr Ian Reilly enjoys fly fishing, shooting, skiing and scuba diving.
