Mr Husam Elghalhud is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with over two decades of experience in the field. Husam specialises in Cataract surgery, he performs thousands of Cataract surgeries per year and has performed over 15 thousands of cataract surgeries and hundreds of different types of lasers ( including laser refractive surgeries). He is a high volume Cataract surgeon, and does cataract surgeries ranging from straight forward to complex cases and implanting different lenses (both standard and premium).

Mr Elghalhud had practiced at the Pennine Acute Trust where he lead the Retina and Theatre services at the trust, and the undergraduate supervisor for Manchester university Medical students. He also enjoyed teaching the juniors and seniors for cataract surgeries. He went on to develop and improve the trusts he worked at, by improving the cataract complication rates, and bringing innovative treatments such as intravitreal injections for macular degenerations.

Husam qualified as a doctor in 1998, and has done a few sub-speciality fellowships including a Cataract and Anterior segment fellowship at the prestigious Queen Victoria Hospital Sussex, and comleted his training in London and Kent, and worked at Moorfields and Kings hospitals. This gave him a wider knowledge regarding eye issues such as Medical Retina, Neuro Ophthalmology, Refractive surgery,dry eyes, Blepharitis and General Ophthalmology.

His last Cataract Audits indicate low Complication rates compared to the national average.

As a certified Laser Refractive surgeon, he performs LASIKs and PRK for spectacle independence and to optimise his post-cataract surgery results; in case there is residual refractive errors.

He is an expert in the Medical retina field, and has completed thousands of intravitreal injections for Diabetics and macular degeneration patients, He also Does Argon retina lasers.

Mr Elghalhud also perfoms Glaucoma Service and uses the Yag laser for narrow angles and post cataract surgery and SLT laser for people opting not to use drops for Glaucoma.
