About Mr Hasan Al Chalabi

Personal Profile

Mr Al Chalabi is a Consultant General, Colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at Princess Royal University Hospital – Kings College London; he qualified in 1999 and completed higher surgical training in Dublin-Ireland in the general and colorectal surgery, he also gained advanced surgical training in St James Hospital – Dublin then in Guy’s & St Thomas hospital-London where advanced training was obtained in laparoscopic colorectal surgery & advanced rectal cancer management. 

His main expertise is in all aspects of colorectal benign and cancer conditions, anorectal conditions, small and large bowels disease and hernia surgery using the key-hole technique. He also had advanced training in endoscopy.

He was also awarded a master degree through advanced research from the College of Surgeons in Ireland in abdominal wall hernia repair and has published the evidence for it.

He is a recognised educational trainer, endoscopy trainer and a faculty member in the laparoscopic training courses in the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Clinical Interests

  • Mr Al Chalabi’s main interests are Large bowel cancer, diverticular disease and other benign conditions, all anorectal diseases, fistula in ano, anal fissures, Traditional Haemorroids surgery and US guided surgery (THD), pilonidal disease, and small bowel diseases.
  • He is specialised in groin and abdominal wall hernias in both primary and recurrent scenarios; by using keyhole approach as well as the traditional way.
  • He is also specialised in endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
  • He also can perform most of skin lesions, sebaceous cysts and lipomas under local anaesthetic.
  • He is a certified colorectal surgeon from the college of surgeons of Gynaecologists in the cases of deep pelvic endometriosis.
  • His ongoing interest is in enhanced recovery pathways combined with laparoscopic surgery for accelerated discharge and a quick return to full recovery.
