Personal Profile

Mr Tsavellas was born and brought up in London and qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1990. He undertook his early surgical training on the prestigious University College and Middlesex Hospital rotation. He subsequently entered higher surgical training on the Wessex rotation in the South of England. During this time, he was awarded the highly coveted degree of Master of Surgery (MS) for research into colorectal cancer undertaken at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Imperial College, University of London.

He lives in Canterbury and has been a Consultant General, Laparoscopic & Colorectal Surgeon at East Kent NHS Trust since 2004. Mr Tsavellas is based at the Margate and Canterbury sites where he is the Clinical Lead for General Surgery.

A highly experienced surgeon with excellent outcomes, he has performed many thousands of laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures for conditions such as bowel cancer, gallstones and hernias of all types. As a very accomplished colonoscopist, he also specialises in the causes, investigation and treatment of rectal bleeding and other conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures and complex or recurrent pilonidal sinus disease.
