About Professor Francis Chinegwundoh

Mr Chinegwundoh is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon with more than 20 years of consultant‑level practice, dedicated to providing compassionate, patient‑focused care. He is widely recognised for his expertise in prostate cancer, both clinically and academically, and has contributed significantly to advancing understanding and treatment of the disease. His work includes international research collaborations and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for patients from all backgrounds.

Throughout his career, Mr Chinegwundoh has combined clinical excellence with a genuine passion for supporting patients through what can often be a worrying and uncertain time. He is known for his calm, approachable manner and his ability to explain complex conditions in a clear and reassuring way. In 2002, he served as a visiting Professor at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Enugu, reflecting his international standing and commitment to global health. In addition, he is the executive chairman of Cancer Black Care, a charity offering vital support to Black and ethnic minority communities affected by cancer.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the National Health Service, Mr Chinegwundoh was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2013 — an honour that reflects both his clinical impact and his dedication to improving patient care.

His work has also gained wider public attention. In 2016, he was filmed by the BBC in Abuja discussing prostate health, helping to raise awareness and encourage early diagnosis. His website holds Health on the Net accreditation Health on the Net accreditation, demonstrating his commitment to providing reliable, patient‑friendly information.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Chinegwundoh is deeply involved in training the next generation of urologists. He is a respected trainer for aspiring consultants and an examiner for the FRCS (Urology) specialist examination, ensuring high standards of care for future patients.
