Personal Profile

Elias Kovoor is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic surgeon. Mr Kovoor has had advanced Laparoscopic training from UK, France and Japan in the field of endometriosis, prolapse and oncology.

He did undergraduate and post graduate training from India before starting his registrar training in the UK. He completed training from Nottingham which included advanced training in laparoscopy and urogynaecology. Following this he did a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic training from IRCAD, Strasbourg which is an internationally recognised centre for advanced endometriosis surgery.

He became a consultant in 2010 and was first appointed in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS where he was the lead for Colposcopy and rapid access services. He was also one of the endometriosis surgeons in this trust.

In 2018 he moved to Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust and set up the tertiary endometriosis services in this trust which serves the whole of Kent and surrounding areas. He runs regular endometriosis clinics at Queen Mary Hospital, Sidcup and in Darent Valley hospital. He has an excellent team of colleagues to provide a multidisciplinary approach to complex endometriosis patients.

Apart from pelvic pain and endometriosis his area of expertise also includes other benign conditions like prolapse, fibroids, abnormal bleeding and ovarian cysts. He is a pioneer in V NOTE surgeries and was the one of the first to introduce this surgery in the UK at Darent Valley hospital which is now also a training centre for this procedure.

He is a faculty for many laparoscopic and V NOTE courses both nationally and internationally. He has published many articles in the field of endometriosis.

Apart from being the lead for endometriosis and minimal access surgeries, he is also the clinical director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the trust
