Mr Edward Seel attended Southampton University Medical School in 1993 with subsequent Orthopaedic training in Wessex Deanery, considered Nationally as one of the best academic training schemes. He undertook advanced spinal fellowships at Oxford University Hospital, and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen’s Square, London. These experiences have given Mr Seel the breadth of knowledge and skills that underpins his personal expertise.

Mr Seel’s practice is sub-specialised to the field of Spine Surgery and provides services for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with spinal conditions including non-operative injection therapies as well as all aspects of open spine surgery. Areas of specific interest include sports injuries, back pain, sciatica, adult degenerative spine including spinal stenosis, cervical disease (for neck or arm pain), scoliosis, children’s spine, motion preserving surgery including cervical disc replacement and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Mr Seel is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is involved in education having completed a Postgraduate Masters in Medical Education at Dundee University. He is currently an executive board member of the British Association of Spine Surgeons and has held previous roles including NHS Clinical Tutor for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust and a member of the Specialty Training Committee for Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Oxford Deanery School of Surgery. He also previously contributed to the AO Spine Europe Spinal Trauma curriculum and has undertaken research into Orthopaedic and Spinal conditions presenting his research findings on National and International stages.

Mr Seel always maintains a healthy balance between academic and social activities. Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters. He also enjoys sailing being a qualified dinghy instructor and Yachtmaster and has competed in various regattas worldwide including the Australian National Farr 40 Championships and the Fastnet Race.
