About Mr Dipak Raj

Personal Profile

Mr Dipak Raj is a senior specialist Knee and Hip Surgeon. He completed his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery from Oxford Deanery. He developed an interest in knee and hip surgery fairly early in his career, having worked with some famous knee and hip surgeons.

After the completion of his training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery from Oxford, he did a fellowship in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Soft Tissue Reconstruction in Cambridge.

He has continued his interest in knee surgery and likes to stay at the forefront of technology. He has developed a special interest in knee arthroscopy and arthroscopic sports surgery and ligament reconstruction of the knee, including anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Ongoing Projects and Research Interests

  • ACL reconstruction: stiffness of the hamstrings graft fixed with Ezylok and washelok techniques
  • An investigation of biomarkers in ACL patients and healthy controls
  • Lead investigator: Prof David Mullineaux, Professor in Sports Science, School of Sport and Exercise Medicine, College of Social Science, University of Lincoln
  • Co-Investigator – Dipak Raj, Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston

This multi-disciplinary research study aims to investigate novel pre and post-operative biomarkers as performance-based investigations (PBIs) to improve surgical and treatment strategies in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) patients.
