About Dr David Austin

Personal Profile

Dr Austin graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1990 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1993. He completed his specialist training in gastroenterology at several of London’s most prestigious hospitals, including St Mary’s, Chelsea and Westminster, Hammersmith Hospital, and the internationally renowned St Mark’s Hospital.

In 2008, Dr Austin was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and in 2014, he was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist.

With over three decades of clinical experience, Dr Austin specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. These include gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), abdominal pain, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and cancers of the stomach and bowel. He also has expertise in liver and pancreatic disorders.

Dr Austin has a particular interest in endoscopy and has performed more than 10,000 procedures, including gastroscopies, colonoscopies, and sigmoidoscopies. He holds the UK’s highest level of accreditation for colonoscopy, enabling him to provide expert screening and early detection of bowel cancer.

Committed to delivering exceptional patient care, Dr Austin co-founded the Kent Gastroenterology Partnership with his wife, Jayne. Together, they offer a personalised and compassionate service, combining clinical excellence with a patient-centred approach.
