Mr Colin Senior is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, with his private orthopaedic practice based at The Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester. His practice focuses on shoulder treatments ranging from joint pain injections through to shoulder rotator cuff, and instability surgery as well as treatment for shoulder arthritis. Shoulder replacements and complex revision shoulder surgery.
Mr Colin Senior qualified from Nottingham Medical School in 1998. He spent time in London including one year at the Royal London Hospital Trauma Unit, before entering higher surgical training in orthopaedics within the Wessex region. He is fellowship trained in the sub-specialities of arthroplasty, shoulder, and trauma surgery during a year spent in Auckland, New Zealand.
Colin is currently based at Dorset County Hospital; with a lead role in trauma surgery and is currently the only orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder surgery at the hospital.
Mr Senior has a specialist interest in shoulder surgery. As well as specialising in degenerative disease processes of joints he also treats patients suffering with pain from sports injuries and those who experienced sports injuries to the shoulder as a result of impact incidents from cycling, rugby and skiing.
Patients that would benefit from a consultation with Mr Senior are those experiencing shoulder aches and pain, where there is prolonged wear and tear in the shoulder joint, frozen shoulder, shoulder dislocation, shoulder arthritis and tennis elbow.
Treatments offered include shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder resurfacing to treat early onset shoulder arthritis, arthroscopic/keyhole surgery.
His private practice, Dorset Shoulder Surgery, is based at The Winterbourne Hospital in Dorchester where Mr Senior accepts patients from all major insurance companies along with patients who choose to pay for their own treatment. Patients who self pay are able to book an appointment for an orthopaedic consultation without a GP referral letter.
