Mr. Knight was appointed as a consultant surgeon in March 2014 having completed higher surgical training in the northwest of England and a clinical fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Australia. He has  specialist experience in all aspects of minimal invasive upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery, robotic surgery, bariatric surgery and benign oesophago-gastric surgery including complex biliary surgery, surgery for gastrooesophgeal reflux, adrenal surgery, all hernia surgery as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He does not currently off cancer or baratirc surgery in the private sector. Mr Knight performs approximately 600 major operations a year. He is a high volume anti-reflux surgeon (LINX and fundoplication) and has a speciality interest in reflux disease. He proctors for Johnson and Johnson on LINX for gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Mr Knight is a specialist in minimally invasive surgery with over 99% of his surgeries performed keyhole. The majority of cases performed are day case or a one night stay in hospital. He is trained on the DaVinci X and Xi systems and has been using the platform for over 5 years. It is embedded In his practice but uses the platform selectively in cases where he believes it will benefit his patients. 

His outcome data is submitted to the National Oesophago-gastric Cancer  Audit, National Bariatric Surgical Registry, National Hiatal Surgical Registry and the Emergency Laparotomy Audit.

Mr Knight holds a full time NHS contract at Hampshire Hospitals NHS trust and works as an independent private surgeon as-well as for RefluxUK. He strongly believes in the benefits of working collaboratively and having access to Multi Disciplinary teams. He holds face to face clinics and virtual clinics via Zoom.

He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, British Obesity Society and the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons.

He has had several clinical roles in the NHS including Royal College surgical tutor, lead for Oesophago-gastric cancer, the lead for emergency surgery/same day emergency care (SDEC), local discharge lead and champion for part time training. He is implemented new NHS services including bariatric tendering contracts and implemented new and unique clinical services (including LINX).

Mr Knight is a pragmatic surgeon with a down-to-earth manner. Out of work he enjoys activities; incinerating on one of his many outdoor BBQ’s, annoying the dog or losing the cat and generally spends his days fixing things. He is an avid skier and would live on the slopes if he could.
