Current Practice

His primary sub-specialty interest lies in medical diseases related to the retina and ocular inflammation/uveitis. Mr Mohammed also actively practices in general and acute Ophthalmology. His expertise spans a wide range of medical retinal conditions, from common issues like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy to complex and rare cases. His interest in uveitis uniquely positions him to diagnose and manage challenging cases that intersect between uveitis and retinal diseases. Uveitis, although relatively uncommon, primarily affects working-age individuals and requires a comprehensive and thorough approach.

A passionate educator, Bashar completed a Master’s degree in Medical Education from Warwick University. He conducted Training the Trainers workshops abroad and presented at various local, national, and international conferences. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and participated in many multi-centre studies during his tenure at Bristol Eye Hospital underlining his commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in his field. Bashar will regularly sits on the national selection panels for the Ophthalmology training programme and recently been appointed as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologist.

Bashar's ethos is to deliver compassionate care to patients. He prides himself on sharing everything with his patients, and they are the centre of his care. He promises to do his best to put patients at ease, give a thorough explanation of the condition or symptoms and then deliver the same level of care that he would expect one of his own family to receive.
