Personal profile

Mr Chougle completed his basic surgical training in Bombay, India and moved to the UK for his higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

He was appointed as a Registrar on the West of Scotland Orthopaedic training programme in 1993, and subsequently completed his training as a Specialist Register through the North West Deanery in 2005. Mr Chougle's training included a Trauma Fellowship at the Glasgow Royal infirmary in 1994, and a Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in 2002-2003.

After obtaining his CCST, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2005 at Oldham/North Manchester General Hospital with a specialist interest in complex hip and knee replacements in young patients, and revision arthroplasty.

Mr Chougle has numerous publications and presentations, both at national and international level and has been actively involved in teaching both at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

Clinical interests

  • Lower limb arthroplasty including both total hip and knee replacements (involved complex hip and knee replacements especially in young patients, and revision arthroplasty in his NHS practice
  • Arthroscopic knee surgery (which does not involve reconstructions)
