About Mr Andrew Jones

Personal Profile

Mr Jones is a Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma and has been at the Great Western Hospital since 2012. He undertook his Medical Degree at St Mary’s Hospital, London where he also attained a BSc in Physiology. His junior surgical training was undertaken in the NW Thames region and Orthopaedic training in Oxford and the Wessex Higher Surgical Training programme.

During his training he also undertook a higher degree: Doctorate of Medicine (DM) at the world renowned Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration in Southampton under the supervision of Prof Richard Oreffo and Mr Doug Dunlop.

Projects from his thesis on the enrichment of Skeletal Stem Cells for Orthopaedic application won a number of national awards and have also featured in the national press (Telegraph , Express ) and the BBC.

Outside of clinical practice Mr Jones is a keen sportsman, he has previously represented GB at sailing and captained the British University Sailing Team winning the European University Championships two years in a row. He also enjoys tennis, cycling and golf.

Mr Jones provides a patient centred approach delivered with a caring and professional manner.
