Personal Profile

Mr Amol Chitre is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Lower Limb Surgeon who is primarily based at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital, one of the few Specialist Orthopaedic Centres in the UK. He has specialist experience in Complex Primary and Revision Hip and Knee joint replacements and Pelvic and Acetabular trauma.

Mr Chitre has lived in the North-West of England since graduating in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2001. He completed his specialist training in 2013 joining the Orthopaedic Specialist Register in the same year.

Mr Chitre is Fellowship trained in both Pelvic and Acetabular Surgery and Revision Hip and Knee Surgery, undertaking this training at St Georges University Hospital, London. He has trained with and been mentored by a number of world renowned orthopaedic surgeons including Mr Martin Bircher, Mr Phil Mitchell, Mr Simon Bridle, Mr Tony Clayson and Mr John Hodgkinson.

Mr Chitre returned to Wrightington Hospital as a consultant in 2014 and also works at the Royal Preston Hospital providing Major Trauma Care and Pelvic and Acetabular Reconstruction work.

He provides Private Consultations and Surgery at the Beaumont Hospital, Bolton, Spire Hospital, Manchester and Wrightington Hospital. He is Major Trauma Lead for the Major Trauma Centre at Preston and also works as an NHS England Reviewer to ensure high standards of care.

Mr Chitre has a keen interest in research and has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals and has also presented his work at international meetings. He maintains a keen interest in teaching and developing the skills of UK and international junior doctors, as well as allied professional staff and students. He has been invited to teach at a number of national and international events including AO Orthopaedic Alliance Trauma Course, Orthopaedic Trauma Society and the Hamburg Revision Hip Course. He is a current member of the prestigious AO Faculty.

Mr Chitre maintains a medico-legal practice specialising in multiply injured and complex major trauma patients.
