Mr Steshenko holds a Master of Science degree in Reproduction and Development from the University of Bristol and a Postgraduate Award in Assisted Reproduction Technologies from the University of Warwick. He also holds a Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.
During his specialty training, Mr Steshenko completed Advanced Training Skills Modules in Subfertility and Reproductive Health, Benign Gynaecological Surgery, Hysteroscopy. He also attained advanced training in Labour Ward Practice. He is a BSCCP-accredited colposcopist.
Following the completion of his specialist training, Mr Steshenko was appointed Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Labour Ward Lead at the Princess Royal University Hospital, part of King's College Hospital NHS Trust. In this role, he provides comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care and oversees clinical practice and safety on the labour ward.
Mr Steshenko is actively involved in clinical research and leads national research studies within his maternity department. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at national and international conferences.
Mr Alex Steshenko has a wide range of research interests span several key areas within obstetrics, gynaecology, and reproductive medicine. His work reflects a strong focus on improving maternal and perinatal outcomes, enhancing clinical practice in labour ward management, and advancing understanding in reproductive health and fertility treatment.
He has contributed to studies exploring hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, such as HELLP syndrome, labour management in high-risk pregnancies, and operative delivery safety and training. His case-based publications include rare and challenging presentations such as uterine rupture following induction of labour, endometrial cancer associated with long-term intrauterine system use, and uncommon gynaecological pathologies like syringocystadenoma papilliferum of the vulva and Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome with galactorrhoea.
In addition, his early academic work has examined clinical training and procedural competence, particularly in operative vaginal delivery and medical education models. His ongoing research leadership within his NHS Trust continues to focus on reducing the risk of postpartum haemorrhage, improving the success of induction of labour, enhancing obstetric safety, and improving the quality of maternity care.

Mr Steshenko also has a wide range of clinical interests such as management patient with all forms of vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain and fertility issues such as polycystic ovaries, uterine fibroids, low ovarian reserve. Mr Steshenko also has a strong academic foundation in reproductive endocrinology and assisted conception, having investigated the role of dehydroepiandrosterone as an adjuvant therapy to improve IVF outcomes in women with poor ovarian response during his MSc research at the University of Bristol. He holds regular one stop fertility clinics focused on prompt investigations and managing patient with delayed conception. Mr Steshenko had advanced training in performing pelvic ultrasound scan, ovulation tracking scans and hysterosalpingograms which is ultrasound test for fallopian tubes.
