Personal profile

Mr Mace is a Consultant ENT Surgeon in York Teaching Hospital, and Honorary Consultant ENT Surgeon in Harrogate District Hospital.

His approach focuses on good communication, in-depth consultations and maintaining an open mind to a diagnosis.

He always has the time to spend to be able to reach a diagnosis and explore the best treatment options for every patient. He has developed good working relationships with allied health professionals, especially in audiology and specialist balance physiotherapy.

Mr Mace is married with 2 boys and a miniature Schnauzer. He has always been a keen sportsman, especially running, cycling and triathlon. He enjoys playing the piano, with an increasing role in accompanying his son's playing their wind instruments.

  • Otology (ear disorders including perforated ear drums; cholesteatoma, hearing loss, tinnitus and discharging ears)
  • Ossicloplasty surgery to improve hearing
  • Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) surgery
  • Stapedectomy surgery for otosclerosis, with laser stapedotomy
  • Dizziness (vertigo and balance problems including Meniere's disease)
  • Rhinology (nasal disorders including acute or chronic rhinitis and sinusitis, blocked nose, deviated septum, nasal polyps)
  • Sinus operations (endoscopic sinus surgery/ FESS)
  • Skin lesions
  • Laryngology (including swallowing problems, throat pain, laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR))
  • Voice disorders (including vocal cord polyps/nodules)
