Mr Alastair Davidson spent most of his postgraduate training at London Teaching Hospitals as part of the Bart’s & The Royal London training programs, with a Specialist Fellowship year in Sydney, and a final Specialist Registrar year on the Joint reconstruction unit for hip and knee surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
After finishing his training in 2005 he was a Locum Consultant at the RNOH Stanmore, and subsequently Imperial College Hospitals London, before his permanent appointment to Frimley Park NHS Hospital. He is fully trained & specialises in all aspects of hip and knee surgery.
He is skilled in arthroscopy of the hip and knee, sports injuries, ligament reconstruction, joint replacement of the hip and knee including partial, total and revision joint replacement. He has experience in customised Conformis Knee replacement and also uses the MAKO Robot to assist hip and knee replacements at Princess Margaret Hospital Windsor.
He uses joint replacements which are all well rated and proven, including the Exeter Hip replacement which has the best results on the National Joint Registry and allows full weight-bearing immediately after surgery. He also has broad experience in osteotomy around the knee to allow correction of deformity and limb re-alignment.
He was a member of the national MRC ACTIVE trial on cartilage resurfacing. He has published and presented nationally and internationally. He has also had the privilege of being a British Orthopaedic Association Travelling Fellow. He has taught on RNOH Stanmore courses and to Imperial College medical students, as well as acting as an examiner.
He considers himself caring and compassionate putting the patient at the centre of their care. He is happily married with two children and enjoys his sports such as rugby, skiing, golf, sailing, and travel.
