Mr. Avasthi is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb and trauma surgery. With a wealth of expertise in joint replacements, arthroscopic surgeries, soft tissue procedures, and patient-specific/navigated joint replacements, he is dedicated to excellence in patient care. 

At Goring Hall Hospital Mr Avasthi see’s patients from Worthing, Pulborough, Horsham and further afield. 

Mr. Avasthi incorporates the latest advancements in orthopaedics, with a particular focus on minimally invasive Shoulder & Elbow procedures to enhance recovery and outcomes.

After qualifying in 2001 and obtaining a Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) in India, Mr. Avasthi trained extensively in the south of England, including at St Richard’s and Worthing Hospitals. He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2008 and completed his Fellowship (FRCS) in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2015. To further refine his expertise, he pursued fellowships in Advanced Trauma (Brighton) and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery (Manchester).

Since joining St Richard’s and Worthing Hospitals as a Consultant in 2019, Mr. Avasthi has played a key role in managing complex elective and trauma cases. In addition to his clinical work, he is an RCS-accredited ATLS & BSS Instructor, actively involved in training and mentoring specialist trainees, junior doctors, and medical students.

Mr. Avasthi's commitment to advancing the field of orthopaedics is evident through his numerous presentations and publications. Some of his recent works include:

  • The natural history and epidemiology of minimally displaced and isolated greater tuberosity fractures.
  • Safe use of intra-operative tourniquets in a district hospital in the UK-an audit study in orthopaedic theatres and review of current literature.
  • Occupational hazards in orthopaedic procedures-a narrative review of current literature.
  • Introducing a Virtual Fracture Clinic Increases Efficiency and Reduces Costs in Torus Fracture Management.
  • Single Incision Distal Biceps Tendon repair using spinal retractors to achieve optimum exposure.
  • Review article - Fractures of the Proximal Radius & Ulna.
  • Book chapter - Common Sports Injuries.

In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Mr. Avasthi is passionate about patient education and empowerment.
