About Achal Khanna

Personal Profile

Mr Achal Khanna graduated in 2001 from the University of Nottingham with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Sciences. He later went on to study and qualify with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in 2008.

Following university Mr Khanna continued his professional development in Adelaide, Australia, where he undertook novel research into nitric oxide and endothelial dysfunction. His final thesis resulted in multiple Royal College prizes and he was also awarded the prestigious ’Queen Elizabeth Research Foundation scholarship’ for his work.

Mr Khanna returned to England in 2008 to complete his surgical training in Leicester where he was admitted to become a Member of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd). 6 years later in 2014 he successfully became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Khanna has a particular interest and specialist knowledge in the surgical management of all aspects of General Surgery, with a specific focus on gall bladder surgery (Cholecystectomy), all aspects of hernia surgery, reflux disease and anti-reflux surgery. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy. His sub-specialisms include general, laparoscopic and benign upper GI surgery. 

In addition to his clinical commitments Mr Khanna is thoroughly engaged in research activities. He has published many research papers and has lectured widely and internationally. He loves playing all sports and spending time with his young family.
