About Dr Abdul Malik

Personal Profile

Dr Malik commenced his cardiology training in Yorkshire after obtaining his MRCP in 2009. He subsequently advanced his training at the esteemed Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. Following this, he dedicated three years to research at the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, UCL, under the guidance of Professor Derek Yellon, focusing on the effects of preconditioning. During this period, he published several articles in reputable medical journals, authored case reports and literature reviews, and presented his research at both national and international conferences.

Dr Malik continued his cardiology training in London, rotating through prominent institutions, including Guy's and St Thomas's, King’s College, and St Bartholomew’s, before assuming his consultant role at Northampton General Hospital in 2020. In his current position, he spends two days in the catheter laboratory performing coronary interventions and participates in the heart attack service at Kettering General Hospital. He manages both general cardiology patients admitted to the hospital and those presenting acutely via Accident & Emergency. Additionally, he offers regular consultations to general practitioners in the region.
 

Clinical Interests

Dr Malik is trained in general cardiology with a subspecialty interest in coronary intervention. He sees patients presenting with a range of cardiac issues, including angina, arrhythmias, and heart failure. Additionally, he offers guidance on primary prevention and manage risk factors such as hypertension and dyslipidemia.
