What is Lower Limb Reconstruction?
Lower limb reconstruction is a relatively new and fast developing subspecialty of orthopaedic and trauma surgery.
How does lower limb reconstruction work?
It comprises biological joint re-alignment including the treatment of malunions, nonunions, modern limb lengthening techniques usually using minimally invasive external fixation. It also includes management of bone and joint infections including osteomyelitis and septic arthritis.

Commonly, it can also provide a solution to problems that would otherwise end up with joint replacement surgery at an early and relatively young age. Occasionally in seriously damaged or deformed lower limbs it can also result in limb salvage.
