Are you living with the pain of endometriosis, infertility or any other troublesome symptoms that come with this complex condition? Our multidisciplinary team of specialists can help. We work together to manage, reduce and even eliminate the effects of endometriosis.

At The Runnymede Hospital, you’ll be treated by a multidisciplinary team, headed by an experienced endometriosis specialist. Directed by Vasileios Minas (gynaecologist and endometriosis specialist), our team includes gynaecologists, colorectal surgeons, urologists, a specialist nurse, radiologists and pain management specialists. We have links to women’s physiotherapists and nutritional counselling services, all with extensive experience in endometriosis.

We have received accreditation from the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE). This acknowledges our expertise when it comes to treating complex endometriosis.

We are based in Surrey and we regularly see and manage patients from all across the UK, as well as people who travel internationally to benefit from our specialist centre.

To book an appointment, call or text us on 07421 138298 or use our easy online booking system.

The Endometriosis Centre at the Runnymede Hospital is led by Vasileios Minas, one of the most experienced Endometriosis Surgeons in the United Kingdom.

The British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy only awards accreditation to those centres that demonstrate the highest standards of multi-disciplinary management of complex endometriosis, including utilisation of minimally-invasive techniques for surgical excision of the disease.

We routinely treat women with complex and severe endometriosis (also referred to as stage 4 or rectovaginal endometriosis). The BSGE recommends that severe endometriosis should only be treated in accredited Endometriosis Centres like ours.

We favour laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, as it is both highly effective and leads to a quicker recovery, enabling long-term relief from endometriosis symptoms.

Our aim is to alleviate the need for long-term medication, whether hormonal drugs that manipulate your menstrual cycle, or major painkillers.

As well as gynaecologists, our team includes consultant surgeons from other specialties, including colorectal and urology surgeons, meaning that we are able to treat the endometriosis, its symptoms and effects across the whole body.

With pain management and psychological experts also on hand, our holistic approach offers truly head-to-toe treatment for endometriosis.

And with all these specialists working onsite at the Runnymede Hospital, you get easy access and excellent continuity of care.

Packages for a laparoscopy for endometriosis start from approximately £6,000 for early-stage disease and can reach to £15,000 and above for very severe disease.

To find out what treatment you will need, book an initial consultation with Mr Minas – prices start from £300 for the initial consultation. If you need tests and scans, these will be charged separately. You’ll always know the exact cost of every scan or procedure before agreeing to it.

Once our team have confirmed your diagnosis, we’ll work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. If you are paying for yourself, you’ll be given a fixed-price package, which covers the cost of your surgery as well as any necessary aftercare.

There are various ways to pay, including flexible payment options that allow you to spread the cost of treatment.

If you have private health insurance, speak to your provider. Endometriosis treatment is usually covered by insurance.

People experience endometriosis very differently as it causes a variety of symptoms including:

  • Painful periods that get worse over time
  • Chronic pain in your lower back and pelvis, which might radiate down your legs
  • Pain during or after sex
  • Pain in your intestines
  • Painful bowel movements or pain when you wee (especially during your period)
  • Stomach problems such as diarrhoea, constipation or bloating (especially during your period)
  • Heavy and/or long periods
  • Spotting or bleeding between periods
  • Infertility or subfertility
  • Fatigue

All these symptoms can point to other conditions, making endometriosis difficult to diagnose. It's important to see a specialist if you think you might be suffering from endometriosis.

Receiving a diagnosis of endometriosis is too often a drawn-out process, and with symptoms ranging from fatigue and extreme pelvic pain to problems with fertility, delay has a significant impact on your quality of life. That’s why we look to confirm diagnosis as soon as possible.

Every person we see at the Endometriosis Clinic will have an initial consultation, at which we’ll get to know you and your symptoms. For most people, this appointment and discussion will also confirm an endometriosis diagnosis.

An efficient, quick diagnosis is made using some or all of the following methods:
