It can also be required in cases of obstruction, injury or ischemia or when blockages are preventing the normal elimination of faeces.
We offer a range of private surgical and non-invasive treatments to treat colorectal and bowel conditions, these include:
We are delighted to be able to offer our patients at The Park Hospital the option of surgery using the da Vinci surgical system, a robotic tool that can lead to better outcomes and a faster recovery.
The da Vinci system facilitates minimally invasive approaches to procedures including colectomy and colon resection. Your surgeon can perform the operation through a few very small incisions, and the technology provides 3D views of the surgical area magnified to 10 times what the human eye sees. This helps us to be more precise and accurate. The robotic arms of the da Vinci also enhance precision, as they offer a greater range of movement than human hands and wrists.
Robotic procedures can be used to treat several conditions including colorectal cancer. The da Vinci robot does not treat your cancer, rather it helps your surgeon to be as precise and accurate as possible. The benefits include lower risk of complications, faster recovery, and better long-term outcomes.
The Rafaelo® procedure utilises safe and reliable radio frequency technology to reduce, and in most cases, eliminate the common symptoms of internal haemorrhoids.
The procedure is carried out in our Endoscopy Department under local anaesthetic (and a mild sedative if required) and takes no longer than 15 minutes.
Radio frequency energy will be applied with the use of an anoscope to each haemorrhoid which will reduce the blood flow to it, thus making it shrink and disappear.
It is recommended for all grades of internal haemorrhoids, however some grade 4 haemorrhoids may only be reduced and not completely removed.
