Meet our Physiotherapists

Jonny Swinhoe- Clinical Services Manager

Jonny graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2012 and began working in the NHS at Bedford Hospital where he worked for 7 years, he worked in MSK outpatients and then progressed to become a team leader on the Orthopaedic wards in 2019.

Jonny worked at a number of private clinics in Bedfordshire during this period, and after leaving the NHS, he has continued developing new skills with clinical courses in Acupuncture and Manual Therapy, which he may use in adjunct to the core treatment of exercise to improve his patients function.

 

Sophie Pomfrey-  Assistant Clinical Services Manager

Sophie graduated from Coventry University in 2015 before going to work through core junior rotations at Peterborough City Hospital, she then went on to work as a senior physiotherapist within the Orthopaedic team at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Sophie worked here for 4 years across trauma and elective cases seeing both routine joint replacements upper and lower limb and more complex trauma including hip fractures, spinal fractures and some polytrauma, she worked closely with the wider MDT including pain nurses, orthopaedic practitioners, consultants and OT to redesign our hip and knee pathway booklets.

Sophie's specialist area is post-operative care and rehabilitation. She is passionate to bring her experience and knowledge from her time on the wards to enhance the patient journey from pre-operative, ward and post-operative care, to improve the patient experience, and the service we can provide, getting people back to their previous function. 

Sophie hosts our Manor Hospital Movement Class which supports people with hip and knee rehabilitation.

 

Victoria Muir- Registered Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health

Victoria qualified in 1993 from Birmingham University and began her career at Bedford NHS Hospital where she set up and developed the Women’s Health and Continence Service now known as the Pelvic Health Service. In 1998 Victoria specialised in Male and Female Pelvic Health and completed her diploma in Continence Treatment and Management at the University of East London.

Alongside Victoria’s work within the NHS she has worked privately for 20 years, first in a family practice and for the last 15 years at Manor Hospital providing a specialist Pelvic Health service to both male and female patients.

Victoria has a wealth of experience and expertise in the treatment and management of conditions that arise when there is a dysfunction within the pelvic floor muscle complex, surrounding pelvic floor or back muscles and soft tissue structures. Her clinical practice is based on the most up-to-date assessment and treatment interventions and her approach is holistic and delivered in a sensitive and empathetic manner.

 

Maureen Wicks- Senior Physiotherapist

Maureen Wicks is a highly experienced and compassionate physiotherapist with decades of expertise in various clinical settings, dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and restore function.

Maureen is known for her patient-centred approach, ensuring that every individual receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs and goals. She specialises in acute care, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, mobility restoration, musculoskeletal therapy, and biomechanics.

Using a combination of advanced manual therapy, targeted exercise prescription, and the latest evidence-based rehabilitation techniques, she helps patients achieve lasting recovery and improved well-being.

Maureen’s warm and encouraging nature, combined with her deep clinical expertise, makes her a trusted partner in her patients’ healing journeys. She is committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to maintain long-term health, prevent future injuries, and enjoy a more active, pain-free life.

 

Les Wilson- Senior Physiotherapist

Les qualified from the University of Hertfordshire in 1999. He worked within the NHS for 4 years in all areas of Physiotherapy before choosing Orthopaedics and MSK as his chosen speciality.

Les worked within a Private Practice for the next 10 years servicing GP referrals, Consultant referrals and post-operative patients. He then moved to working within GP practices for 4 years.

Now, Les works in an Occupational health setting where he works with post-operative, MSK and work-related injury patients to rehabilitate and help them return to work and leisure activities.
