The imaging department at Cavell offers the following services:
Digital mammography
The mammography unit is staffed by fully accredited radiographers and offers general mammography as well as more specialised views. The machine is outfitted for digital stereotactic localisation to aid biopsy and fine needle aspiration of soft tissue lesions. Our consultant radiologists performing these techniques are specialists in this field.
We are the only Independent Sector Hospital in North London that is able to offer a Vacuum Assisted Biopsy (Mammotome) to patients, along with the use of a Faxitron allowing effective patient diagnostics.
Mobile MRI
With the increasing demand for MRI scans, we're proud to offer this state-of-the-art facility three days a week, Monday to Wednesday from 8 am to 9 pm.
This innovative addition to our services has significantly reduced waiting times for patients, with the ability to book an appointment within 0-2 days. Our new "walk-in" MRI service ensures a seamless process, allowing patients to receive their scan on the same day they see their consultant.
Receive prompt and efficient care, avoiding unnecessary delays in diagnosis and treatment planning. We're committed to providing the highest quality of service and convenience for all our patients.
Diagnostic ultrasound
A full range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations are available at the hospitals. These range from general abdomen, pelvic and gynaecology, to follicular tracking, breast imaging and soft tissue joints. Ultrasound guided breast and trans rectal prostatic biopsies and drainage procedures are also undertaken by our consultants.
Echocardiography
An echocardiogram (echo) uses a dedicated ultrasound machine but is optimised for looking at the heart only, and we are one of the few Independent Sector hospitals in London with a specialised scanner in a dedicated cardiology room. An echocardiogram gives accurate information on the structure of the heart, the valves, and how well the heart is able to pump.
It can be a useful test if you have recently had a heart attack or if you have heart failure. This is also used regularly to assess people with heart valve problems or congenital heart disease.
Electrocardiogram (ECG): A quick and simple test which looks at the electrical activity of your heart. An ECG is used as a baseline test to look for evidence of cardiac damage, cardiac enlargement and/ or electrical disturbances.
Echocardiogram: Ultrasound scan of the heart used to assess the structure and function of the heart. By visualising the valves, heart chambers, heart muscle and blood flow it gives a detailed picture of cardiac health.
Bubble contrast echocardiogram: A specialised cardiac ultrasound study used to detect connections between the right and left side of the heart.
ECG ambulatory holter monitoring: Monitors the electrical activity of your heart over a longer period of time. We offer this in the form of a wireless, showerproof monitor which can also be offered as a remote service. Available from 24hrs - 14 days.
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM): A small digital machine that measures your blood pressure at regular intervals in order to provide a clear picture of how your blood pressure changes throughout the day. Available from 24hrs - 7 days.
