Can I choose whether I'm seen by a male or female private GP?

The private GP service is run by four of our Private GPs. We have both male and female GPs so please book with who you feel most comfortable with.

Can I find out more about my private GP before I book?

Yes. Please have a look at our Private GP profiles below to find out more about our doctors. Their training, specialisms, qualifications, and experience are all listed in their profiles. All GPs in the UK must be registered with the GMC. The GMC's register is open to the public, which you can use to find out more.

How quickly can I see my private GP?

A number of appointments are available Monday through Friday, ensuring the possibility of same-day appointments where possible. Often, these appointments can be arranged within an hour or so from booking. If this is the case, you will need to call us to arrange the appointment. If there is no availability online, please give us a call and we will see what we can do.

Can I have a video call with a private GP instead?

No. Our private GP service runs strictly on a face-to-face basis. This allows our GPs the best opportunity to properly understand, assess and diagnose, ensuring you get the best result from your appointment.

Yes. If you're booking directly with us, then you can book with the same GP  as many times as you like. Remember that if it's an emergency, then you need to use the NHS 999 emergency service instead.

Yes. The choice is entirely yours. Your GP can help by writing a referral or recommendation letter depending on your condition and circumstances and will discuss all the options with you during your visit.

Yes. Our private GP service can issue private prescriptions. You can then visit our pharmacy at Huddersfield Private Hospital to pay for and collect your prescription. Alternatively, there may be other pharmacies local to you that accept private prescriptions.

Are tests included in the cost of my private GP visit?

No. The cost of your private GP appointment is for consultation and professional advice only, although it does include the cost of writing a prescription if deemed necessary, or onward referral to any other specialty/consultant. The cost of fulfilling the prescription is not covered and varies according to the cost of the medication prescribed.
