At
The Highfield Hospital, our Orthopaedic Specialists can perform a variety of procedures for your hand or wrist problems, including:
Dupuytren’s disease, also known as Dupuytren’s Contracture, occurs when or more of your fingers start to point towards your palm. During its early stages, it can cause lumps to appear on the surface of your palm. As your condition progresses, your affected finger could become trapped in a bent position. Hand surgery for Dupuytren’s disease will involve straightening your affected finger through a surgical incision or insertion of a needle.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by a compression of your median nerve (a nerve that travels through the front of your wrist). This compression can cause pain or a tingling sensation in your fingers and hands.
Your Orthopaedic Surgeon can relieve these symptoms through carpal tunnel release surgery, where your carpal ligament (a band of tissue across the top of your wrist) is cut to provide the nerves in your hand with more space to move.
Stenosing tenosynovitis, more commonly referred to as trigger finger, can create pain at the base of your finger or thumb. It can also lead to stiffness or a locking sensation when you attempt to bend or straighten your finger or thumb. Trigger finger release surgery can help you regain movement, and it is unlikely that the problem will reappear in your operated finger or thumb following surgery.
A wrist arthroscopy is an operation to diagnose problems in the wrist. A tiny camera is passed through an incision in your wrist so that your Surgeon can see inside the joint. If possible, they will also perform treatment during the procedure. It can be used to treat conditions including ganglion cysts (fluid-filled bumps near your joint or tendons) and to remove any loose bone or cartilage inside your joint.
*Prices reflect self-pay prices where patients have paid for their treatment themselves. This price will vary depending on your diagnosis and recommended treatment plan.
