The Bonegevity Clinic at Droitwich Spa Hospital

Gain a clearer understanding of your bone health with a detailed assessment of bone strength and fracture risk. Early identification of reduced bone density can help guide treatment, lifestyle changes, and preventative measures to support mobility, independence, and long-term health.

bone density
  • Over 3.5 million people in the UK are living with osteoporosis
  • From the age of 50, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men will experience a fracture related to low bone strength.
  • Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the 5–7 years following menopause.
  • Up to 1 in 4 people die within 12 months of a hip fracture

Many fractures can be anticipated and prevented. By assessing bone health early, we can help protect your mobility, reduce the risk of osteoporosis, and support long-term independence. Early intervention can make a significant difference to your future health.

  • Diagnoses osteoporosis or osteopenia
  • Assesses future fracture risk
  • Monitors treatment effectiveness
  • Supports preventative bone health planning

Your clinician may recommend it if you have risk factors for low bone density, including:

  • Being over 50 (especially post-menopausal women)
  • History of fractures after minor injury
  • Long-term steroid use
  • Low body weight
  • Family history of osteoporosis
  • Early menopause
  • Smoking or high alcohol intake
  • Low calcium or vitamin D levels

Ms-Moon-Orthopaedics
Ms Anna Moon
Consultant Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon, Droitwich Spa Hospital, Founder of The Bonegevity Clinic

Throughout more than 30 years of surgical practice, Ms Anna Moon has treated thousands of patients with fractures, many of which occurred as a result of underlying osteoporosis and poor bone quality rather than significant trauma.

As an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, she has witnessed first-hand the life-changing consequences of fragile bones. While modern surgery can often repair a fracture, it cannot always restore a patient's independence, confidence, or quality of life. This is particularly true following hip fractures, which remain one of the most serious and costly consequences of osteoporosis.

These experiences inspired Ms Moon to focus increasingly on prevention rather than treatment. She established The Bonegevity Clinic with a simple aim: to help people understand, preserve, and optimise their bone and muscle health before problems develop.

Osteoporosis is often referred to as a "silent disease" because bone loss occurs gradually and without symptoms until a fracture occurs. Yet its impact is significant and continues to grow as populations age. Through her work, Ms Moon is passionate about raising awareness of bone health and empowering patients to take proactive steps to reduce their risk of osteoporosis and fracture in later life.

Miss Anna Moon, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon will perform the Bonegevity scan during your appointment and then talk you through the results as part of your consultation. Appointments will be approximately 1 hour long. You will then receive a copy of the report via email.
