Varicose vein treatment can make a huge difference to a person’s confidence and the activities they choose to take part in. Treatment removes unsightly varicose veins and alleviates your symptoms - it should also help prevent further complications that varicose veins may cause.
As part of varicose vein treatment your consultant vascular surgeon will complete an initial assessment of your veins and perform a scan. This will enable the consultant to give you more detail on the severity of your varicose veins and which procedure is most suitable for you.
Your consultant will discuss a suitable treatment plan unique to you and your requirements. They will discuss your treatment options with you in detail, and advise accordingly. During your consultation, your surgeon can scan your leg to assess the severity of your varicose veins.
Most varicose vein treatment is minimally invasive and performed as a keyhole procedure, under local anaesthetic as walk-in, walk-out treatments. All minimally invasive techniques work by destroying the inner lining of the vein; ablating or sealing the varicose vein.
