About us
Our site at St Edmunds has a lot of wonderful history.
As you turn into the drive, the beautiful house you see was originally a family home in 1758, it has also been a care home, and is now a state-of-the-art private hospital serving both NHS and Private Patients.
St. Edmunds Hospital is proud to be a part of the Circle Health Group family, which is a group of 53 hospitals across England, Scotland and Wales.
We have won numerous awards for Private Hospital group of the year, and our very own site St Edmunds has had nominees and runner up prizes in our company RISE awards, which recognises staff excellence. in 2024 our Ward team were runners up, coming second to another site. This is something that we are all very proud of.
Our Google reviews represent the great feedback we have from patients, and we have a rating of 4.8/5 which is also exceptionally high.
Choosing St Edmunds hospital to have your treatment, as a private or NHS patient is not something you will regret.
We keep the area outside the hospital peaceful and calm, so that should your loved ones wish, they can wait for you outside in the grounds. Inside, our team is ready with smiles to help each of our patients through their pathway. Whether it be a simple GP visit or preparing for a total hip replacement, our goal is to provide a relaxed and efficient journey for each of our patients.
St Edmunds Hospital has 27 beds with all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, views of the gardens, TV and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Facilities
Our imaging and physiotherapy team based at the hospital are here to ensure that you have the best of care before and after treatment. We have three main theatres, two of which have been installed with laminar flow (clean air filter system). Our third theatre is used for endoscopy and day case procedures. These facilities combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services; enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery.
We also have a dedicated day case recovery area in our comfortable conservatory where you can relax after your day case procedure until you are discharged from our care. Additionally, St Edmunds Hospital is proudly both JAG and AfPP accredited.
St Edmunds Hospital attracts over 80 consultants from the local area to practice privately here in St Edmunds. This wealth of specialist expertise is supported by caring and professional staff, with dedicated nursing teams and Resident Medical Officers on duty 24 hours a day, providing care within a friendly and comfortable environment.
From Health Assessments, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, GP appointments, Cardiology, General Surgery, Urology, Plastics, and Ophthalmology, we have your best interests in mind ensuring we can help you without you needing to travel far.
To note:
We are an elective surgery site, so do not have an A&E department, or intensive care unit. We assess and see patients prior, and book any surgeries if required at a time to suit the patient.
Who can book in with us
Patients can come and see us as insured or self-pay basis, or for some specialties a referral from your GP.
Those with private medical insurance should check their policy details with employers, as often you are covered, especially working with larger corporate companies. If you wish to use your health insurance, simply call them up and say you wish to be seen at St Edmunds, and they will either book you in direct, or give you an authorisation number to quote, which we use to retrieve any payments.
Referrals are accepted from GPs, and external optometrists and physiotherapists. Most consultants also see patients who wish to self-refer.
We also have a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and cared for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.
