At Southend Private Hospital, we specialise in life-changing laser eye surgery, offering personalised treatment plans and cutting-edge technology to help you achieve clear, glasses-free vision.
Alongside traditional ophthalmology treatments, we offer advanced laser vision correction, in partnership with Lasersight.

At Southend Private Hospital, we offer affordable laser eye surgery through flexible finance options to ensure you receive the best possible treatment as soon as possible.
Your eye is anaesthetised with drops prior to treatment so you won’t feel anything during surgery. After LASIK surgery you may experience some grittiness and watery eyes for a few hours, but it is generally regarded as a pain-free procedure. With LASEK you may experience more discomfort especially in the first 24 to 48 hours.
Most patients are extremely pleased with the results of their refractive surgery. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with laser correction. These will be explained by your surgeon during your initial consultation.
Yes, but it will not prevent the onset of presbyopia - the natural ageing process of the eye (and the need for reading glasses for close work after the age of 40 - 45 years).
Most patients are able to return to work within a couple of days.
We advise that you should refrain from driving until your surgeon has confirmed your vision has reached the specified driving standard and until you feel comfortable to drive. As a guide, it is usual to be able to return to driving 2 - 3 days after treatment.
Usually not, as this treatment is classed as being cosmetic. However, you should check with your insurance company.
Generally, the minimum age you must be to get laser eye surgery is 18 years old. However, it is strongly recommended to have vision correction surgery at 21 years of age or over, as it is when your prescription is not likely to change dramatically.
