Orthopaedics at The Shirley Oaks Hospital
Located in Shirley Oaks Village on the outskirts of Croydon, our private hospital sees patients from South West London, East Surrey and beyond. People come to use from local areas such as Sutton, Banstead, Coulsdon, Purley and Wallington, as well as Warlingham, Kenley and Chipstead. We also see many patients from further afield. People travel to us to seek the expertise of our experienced consultants and to make the most of our great facilities and compassionate team of healthcare professionals.
Our consultants can advise on whether you need treatment for problems related to your hip, knee, spine, foot and ankle, shoulder, elbow, or hand.
Among the main treatments we offer:
Hip replacement surgery is a common procedure that involves the replacement of a damaged hip joint. It can help improve your quality of life by allowing you to move more easily and get back to the things you love.
Our orthopaedic consultants will assess if you need a hip replacement or see if there is the option to manage your condition without the need for surgery.
When non-surgical treatments no longer help, a knee replacement might be the recommended route. At The Shirley Oaks Hospital we offer total or partial knee replacement surgery, revision knee replacement or knee arthroscopy. Our consultants will advise the best procedure for you.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is found at the back of the knee. An ACL reconstruction is the repair of the torn ligament in the knee joint using a graft.
It can take several months to a year to regain normal use of the knee depending on the severity of the tear. Your consultant will let you know which treatment plans and aftercare will be most suitable for you.
Subacromial decompression is a shoulder procedure used to treat shoulder impingement. This happens when the bones and tendons in your shoulder rub together and cause pain.
Carpal tunnel surgery is performed to reduce the pain caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal ligament in the wrist is divided to release pressure on the nerve that controls the movement in your hand. This can reduce your pain and may enable you to undertake tasks you previously struggled with due to the pain.
