Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is a very common condition. It is most common in men aged 40 and above. Erectile dysfunction broadly falls under two categories – the inability to get an erection, or the inability to maintain an erection for long enough to have sex. There are a number of reasons why you may be experiencing erectile dysfunction, and dependent on this cause, you may still be able to get an erection at other times such as when you wake up.

There are a number of causes of erectile dysfunction, leading men to either fail to get or maintain an erection. Some root causes can be tiredness, alcohol consumption, and stress. Certain medications can also lead to erectile dysfunction, as well as a range of conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and hormone issues. There are certain things you can do to mitigate the severity and improve your condition, largely centred around lifestyle. If you are overweight you could try to lose weight, stop smoking, eat a healthy diet, exercise more frequently, and try to reduce stress and anxiety. It is also recommended to stop drinking in excess of 14 units of alcohol per week.

However, erectile issues can persist and can be an indicator of an underlying health condition that requires treatment. In any case, you should seek medical advice from a specialist.

The erectile dysfunction clinic is located at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead, Glasgow. The clinic is suitable for anyone to attend who is suffering from erectile dysfunction. This can be as a result of a condition, treatment, or for any other reason.
