Professional Profile

Dr Anjum started his training as an obstetrician/gynaecologist in South Africa in 1991. After completing training, passing fellowship exam and registering as a Consultant with South African medical council, he moved to the UK for further training and education. Within 21 years of service in NHS, (6 years in training and 15 years as consultant), Dr Anjum received MRCOG, MRCP, Master degree in reproduction and development and fellowship in IVF/Infertility. He worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and head of department in infertility & Gynae endocrinology in Royal Oldham Hospital. Dr Anjum did his advance laparoscopy training in 1998 with Mr. Tim Sutton in Australia. From March 2017- December 2022, he worked in Zulekha hospitals in the U.A.E., where he helped in building services of excellence in minimally invasive surgery and got accreditation from the American Surgical Review Commission of Gynaecologic Laparoscopy- SRC.  

Dr Anjum has been awarded for best support and leadership provision for the year 2018 at Zulekha hospital, Dubai, and he is a strong advocate of patient’s right to be adequately and sufficiently informed and properly guided in the process of medical management and treatment.  

He has a special interest in infertility, endometriosis and benign Gynaecology. Throughout his 30 years of experience within Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Anjum has developed refined skills in minimally invasive surgery and conducts complex surgical procedures for benign, primary malignant gynaecological conditions and deep endometriosis. 

Currently he has joined back Royal Oldham Hospital (Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust, UK) as substantive Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.  

He is an approachable, capable and committed doctor able to relate to staff, patients and families at all levels.

Dr Anjum has undergone training in tertiary canters throughout the UK, Australia and in South Africa, where he attained valuable experience in wide-ranging aspects of specialty and sub-specialty. He is comfortable in performing vulvoscopis, biopsies, removal of warty growth and treating vulval pain in out-patient setting. He is also very familiar in diagnosing and treating pruritic valve, vulval skin conditions like liken sclerosis, atrophic vulvo-vaginitis.
